How to create and support more Veda Scholars?

The return / benefits that accrue from recitation of veda or kriyas are adhrushtaplan in nature i.e. not tangible. There are people to donate for other causes. But very few people can visualize the importance of Veda and the rites associated with it. Brahmins who are not fortunate to be initiated in the Vedadyanam can compensate by working or donating for the cause of Veda as detailed by Mr.Muralidharan or in many other innovative ways. The minimum that can be done by persons having born twice (Irupirappalan) One by Jananam and the other by Upanayanasamskaram; but missed the great opportunity to learn veda (I am one among the unfortunate persons) is to feel for it (Paschathapam).

It’s not to hurt anyone . I live in a spot where I can see what’s going on. I wrote somewhere else also. Now days, 90% make easy money by exploiting the sanathana dharma and Vedic rituals as well as exploiting the good Samaritan, especially from people abroad. Veda teaching has become a business to earn by recruiting few innocent victims who are poor. I won’t say that nothing is transacted there, but there are no real "acharyas". Money and gifts earned are encashed for own developments, granting few lessons to the student’s marked as resident or exhibited as resident while accumulating them when there need be. They have a trust t but no explanations or accounts offered wrt the trust. The joke part of it when they are confronted by the relevant dept, they coolly answer that they are imparting what they knew at free of cost. Vedas are not taught with dharmic concepts and with the meaning. If u asks them they have standard answer that it will take 18 to 24 years or if u want to see them, they have gone to write exams. The dhotis gifted like vadyars are sold at half the price to the same shop. Some do real estate business. Some who are 4 or 5 brothers stretch this at native, Chennai, trichy, Madurai etc and make money. Kaliyuga traits are seen as narrated in puranas seen well. 10 % who do service are unknown. My friend is running one on the outskirts of Chennai from his trust and supervising the actions going on. Except this kind of 10%, it’s difficult to appraise the right ones and hence help is not forth coming. WHAT WE HAVE LEARNT IS TO EXPLOIT RELIGION NOT ONLY AMONG US EVEN OTHER RELIGIONS. THOSE WHO SAY WE ARE EATING THE CRUMBLES OF BREAD STREWN ON THE FLOOR ARE LIVING ON SCOTCH.

I have no connection with any Veda Padasalai. I off corse support one in Palakkad. I have visited this place many times and am impressed with the way they manage this. They have regular teachers who are experts and qualified in sanskrit and vartious shakas of Vedas. You should visit this place to convince yourself that there are legitimate institutions run by dedicated people.

We should avoid generalising because there are a few who fall into trhe category you have described. Messages like yours discourage the very few donors who help the genuine instittutions. Sorry for this reply as I was hurt by your message. I have made sure that this message is addressed only to you. In case you desire the contact for the insttution in Palakkad let me know.

I appreciate your ardent motivation and at the same time I wrote that its not to hurt anyone but to do the act as "PATHIRAMARINDHU PICHAIYIDU (OUVAIYAR).I have never said there are no such institutions nor do I discourage the right acts. I am ordained to make many donations and facilities to Vedapatasala and the out come of are they in large dupers. There are a few like Kumbakonam Raja vedapatasala, Kanchi, Sringeri paatasala, In Chennai at 2 places, near Nannilam Tanjore, and so and so which are imparting with right VEDA ADYAPAKAS. Hence your generous observations that "We should avoid generalizing because there are a few who fall into the category you have described as".

It’s not a hasty generalization at all. Here I would like to make a point. Criticisms or accusations can be made generally on common sense; however, the salvo is sharp when made after knowing the nuances to better extent, where the criticizer is looked upon by easy maneuvering persons, existing in this world.

For example, (on the outset I don’t know in entirety in excellence, but has a little knowledge to know whether being done with the authority ;) Kalyana mantra, sraddam mantras, seemantha and ayush homa mantras etc are recited by the sastrigal in majority to day without any regrets, erroneously and with lot of omissions and commissions, which UNAWARE the karthas recite and appreciate the vadyars. My sastrigal who is learned is cautious about me; even on occasions, I have heard him telling that assistants to be careful, lest those will be taken to task; in USA also our people take dollars but literally cheat the karthas who are willing to do it and in my presence they do it cautiously, because I will question. I am telling this because, in order to know the real, we must have A TIOP OF THE ICE-BERG knowledge or else many flout the rules for money which is against the Vedic ethics.

I had known Radhakrishnansastrigal of my father's time and ANDI VADYAR of my time who used to do the rituals in a mastery manner economically and as per sastras. I had seen the former performing sraddam of a poor man ,taking a handful of rice ,as dhakshina,  sastras impose and the latter returning back the money on the occasion of the upanayanam. I am also seeing the other ways and they are in large numbers because the karthas have the desire to perform but do not have the knowledge basically needed. Majority of them have started VEDIC CLASSES, SCHOOLS, TAKE COMPLIMENTS FROM THE MATAMS and make this an institution of earnings for profit. I know a sastrigal at Mylapore coming in car with BAR-AT-LAW assistants, only to rich people with 4 or 5 cell phones and what they will do; they are also collecting donations; I have no ill feelings against anyone but am pragmatic.

Real Vedavits like paatasala ordained are carrying on with the help of people like us and Matams and we have to help ONLY SUCH and SUCH (sat yam) is known by their life style and VEDIC DEDICATIONS apart from the reports of the vidyarthees. If their acts are genuine they are transparent who will keep their accounts and balance sheets open which can be inspected. Kalpathi is a famous place and there could really be a genuine paatasala. My pleadings are BE CAREFUL; KNOW THE ACHARYA(KYC) and do the needful.
