My comments K RAJARAM IRS
Tolerance as advocated and practiced faithfully in India, by REAL INDIANS, is not at all tolerable. Vedas and Upanishads prayed to deities for valour and courage and preached for tolerance ,humbleness and precinct qualities.
1. Kritha, theratha yugams had people who had lot of space and grace, respect for other human and bovine elements. There were battles unsettling the peace and still practiced Tolerance to a greater extent as long as they were not tortured or dislocated. Or else they might not have prayed for help from Gods for protection and arms to defend. Culture was maintained and so tolerance; when peace and living were disturbed either they fought or got themselves displaced.
2. Dwapara yuga was little different There were rudness depicted; women were molested and suppressed; learned were insulted and tortured; wealth was plundered; greed for other man’s assets were a plenty. That is why MAhabaratha was exposed. There in Bagavat gita, Lord Krishna advocated to Arjuna (which is interpretable as between God and Man or Paramatma and Jeevathma) , that NEVER ASSUME THAT YOU ARE KILLING; ITS DHARMA TO TAKE GANDEEPAM AND PROTECT IRRESPECTIVE OF RELATIONS OR FRIENDS, WHEN GREED FAR EXCEEDS; ITS KARMA AND IN THAT PROCESS YOU CANNOT PLAN FOR FRUITION; LORD GETS ALL THE ACTIONS AND ENSURE ACTIONS AS LONG AS DHARMA IS PROTECTED. Tolerance had a limitation till Krishna asked for atleast 5 houses.
3. Now you are in Kali yuga. No doubt Tolerance is still a virtue. How ever Dharma is slayed every time ,every where in all surroundings, with all community. Its not in the nature of human rights that violence is used as a tool. Husbands behave like ruffians with Malais with their married wives, men insult women hood; sons desert parents; sisters are humiliated; women exceed their nature against menfolks; business community think clients are their prey; income earning by hook or crook is taken as intelligence; professionals fleece clients without service and without necessity; Govt under the cloak of politicians assume their kingmanship and power for self-gratification and in that process treat public for a worm; executives are paid for their service from both employer and the purpose of employement; People use the tools of caste ,creed, state, language etc for their achjevements of greed. LIMITATIONS OF TOLERANCE ,IN MY OPINION ALONE ,HAD ENCOURAGED ALL THE VIOLATORS TO COME SO FAR.
4. In short TOLERANCE may be argued as the weapon of GANDHIJI which alone brought us our Independence. It cannot be totally denied. How ever History should be re-read to see that there were wars on a/c of lack of Dharma, by Bose, KAttabomman, sivagangai, martyers all over India who were shedding their blood in spite of initial tolerance practiced. India was plundered and there is nothing more in the pot. It took 200 years a very long time ti achieve. Hence Gandhi,s tolerance postponed the independence and made people docile. Its similar with Nelson Mandela in south Africa. History had always taught that whenever the stay is hot and there is no thing in return to continue, rulers withdrew.
5. On the contrary Zapata achieved the rights for Mexicans in war beyond tolerance. Israel a tiny nation distinguishes the limitations of tolerance and the fight for right. Burma threw off the british after a limitation but Gandhian Principles practiced by Su Ki had spoiled the economy of the country as well as dragged more than 3 decades. Incidentally, Su ki’s father was a general in achieving freedom from British!
6. Kural spoke “Porutharku ponrum thunaiyum pugazh” and at the same time in the same adikaram “PORAI” he had said “Mikudian seidarai than thagudial venru vidal”—in other words Gita Principle is repeated. Limitations and action are the two sides of the TOLERANCE COIN. That is why Bharathi said to Kids (PAPPA) avar mugathil umizhndu vidu—modi midithu vidu- as lessons for docile long tolerant elders. WAY OF DHARMA IS A TWO EDGED WEAPON ACTION AND TOLERANCE.
THIS ARTICLE FLOWED FROM WRITE UP SHOWN BELOW:
TOLERANCE and a few observations from my college friends.
VS K7
Your classic on tolerance certainly brought back my own memories of my late father. All his life he was a sales person tolerating foolish customers and obnoxious bosses. But at home, he had very little tolerance for less than perfect Rice Pongal or slightly colder coffee. The only exception I had noticed to this is my former neighbor – a woman executive at AT&T. At work she was a terror to her sub ordinates as having very little tolerance but at home she put up with a lot of shit from her husband !! I wonder if has an explanation for this. rom: guindy62@yahoogroup s.com [mailto:guindy62@
We are the most tolerant people.
Yes, we tolerate very many things that many from other countries may not. Our biological system has become immune to so many pollutants. I drive a motorcycle that does not pollute, but I can follow a lorry, which belches Carbon monoxide fumes running on kerosene. I can drink the metrowater circulated through contaminated pipeline. My digestive system is tuned to accept this. I relish the roadside fast food, heated in many-times recycled oil: may be with minimum stomach discomfort.
The other day I was standing in a queue to book train ticket. A lady standing before me was permitting all her friends to go before her breaking the queue. Since she was lady none opened their mouth. Then came a tough looking guy who walked directly to the counter and bought his ticket. No one moved. Tolerant.
The public bus, which has to stop at designated place, never does it.
We run after it .We buy the ticket from the conductor after accepting his abusive words for not giving correct change. Still tolerant
The computer takes so much time to boot up, we patiently wait.
Internet connection, obtained after many attempts, just conks off displaying; "the site is not available". Still we keep trying.
The expensive equipment that you buy fails. We go after the agent to repair it. We listen to all the stories he tells as to how we should have handled it. At the end we own up our mistake and pay hefty amount to repair the same.
We who tolerate all this, cannot tolerate when the morning coffee is a little late or when it is not as hot as it should be. Dr.Jekyl and Mr.Hyde.
There is a limit for toleration.Ouside it is 90% and at home 10%.

POLITICS EVERYWHERE AND THE RETICENCE AT THE REARGUARD
I NEVER WANTED INITIALLY TO GIVE IMPORTANCE TO A PROGRAM OF UNIMPORTANCE, HOWEVER AN ENTERTAINMENTS ALSO BECOME A BASE FOR PROSPECTS, AND THE BEST ARE LEFT-OUT,IN THIS RACE,SO I THOUGHT MY VOICE SHALL BE HEARD.
Now a days media are not neutral. They focus what they are asked, rather directed to focus, in the garb of MASS NEED THEM, LIKE THEM ETC. The other side of the coin is there are no media for outward expression of truth. Even yogis and swamis are ignored; vedas and Vedic scripts are trespassed; knowledge base is for no-communication, unless its coming from power-based; talents are asked to serve the pedal-pushers. Money, Power, partiality, influence, pawning and creed have come to occupy the center stage, compressing the talent seeds from rising up. Unless there is a compromise or there is virtual reality of not able to ignore, the best are behind the curtains. People cannot be our-spoken and after all to do so also, where is the platform?
Vijay TV is doing a program SUPER SINGER AIR-TEL. It’s supposed to be an entertainment; however it’s supposed to spot the talents of multi-applications. In this process, it appears that the paid judges, have to compromise or else, what you see in selection, may not be happening at all. The more talented is accused without basis and slashed, whereas one RAGINI SREE is pulled high and high, even though her voice has no range, she has no application of sweet music, and she is a single –pattern singer. Iswarya has better ability. Santosh can do better. Madumitha (both) do perform better. Yet Ragini Sree was dragged on and on till, virtually, there is no more possibility to justify. Others were coolly sent down, earlier than better talents.
However as if the, an error of judgment has been committed, THE VESTED INTEREST MIND found a new base to somehow hook her back and the rest is history for those who saw the program. As a matter of fact on 9th Feb 2009 the favorite who sang better than Ms R,is toppled down. Iswarya did better than an half-baked vamp song of Ms R. Hari who did his best has to wait for mercy. Had there been a selection of only one-- Vijay would have been ignored and Ms R would have got selected. WHOSE ERROR IS THIS? May be the next step is to bring her somehow within winner and runner or who knows ,may be a winner!!!

INDIAN WOMEN CULTURE
INDIAN WOMEN CULTURE
An Article appeared in DINAMALAR, regarding the culture value and women of India. (02/02/09). This paper lashes the cancer in society as long as, the other side involved, are weaker than the paper-strength. Of course, viewed from, its required obligations to society, the article is absolute, however if it is universal its laudable. Anyway, this aptitude is only a passing remark
“ nirai kakum kappeven seyyum
Maglir nirai kakkum kappe thalai” (Tirukkural)(Tamil in English)
Under the constitution of India, every citizen, including women has the right to apparel, living and leading life to his/her liking, within the boundary of permitted under law. The law had equally permitted for expressions for and against, in a democratic way. However what we saw in Mangalore is more than a terrorist attack and indecent to the core of Male youth in a hotel. This goes to show that it’s a male dominated society and all rules are written by males. Women are the strongest in society, better than males, who don’t know about their strength, like an ELEPHANT.
Drinking, dancing and dating have come to stay in our society. Who prompted this? Men folks lead the front. Women showed the path. Men wanted to see the neighbor naked but not his woman. Here the contradiction had arisen. Women has all charms, a finer creation of GOD and she will shake the kingdom; men knew about it but wanted them to become their prey except, his own women who shall guard her chastity; we quote the outcome here as from western culture; but we forgot that women whereever they are viz IN India /western/Arabia have the same set of standard procedures; if women are respected they respect in turn your honor; but you cannot depict them as your pleasure-public-pots; the women turn hostile; as long as it does not touch your interests, you are not bothered, I mean Men-folks; that is why prostitution is deeply rooted; when his daughters and wives turn to a life of proximity men start thinking about INDIAN CULTURE.
Ramakrishna Parama hamsa was met by a lady who wanted her child to be advised to refrain from eating lot of sweets. Parama Hamsa directed her to come along with the child after a fortnight. On that day Parama Hamsa preached to the child about the bad effects of swrrts and the mother asked that this could have been done a fort-night ago. Ramakrishna said that she was right but he himself was fond of sweets and one who preaches shall practice first and so he took time. MEN SHALL PRACTICE BEFORE PREACHING ABOUT THE INDIAN CULTURE. .
Men write stories of women and sex in sweet style. Men produce paintings and pictures depicting women as a sex object. Men produce films where women are portrayed as a voluptuous creature always thinking about nothing but sex. In television serials, men project women as having two husbands or they are two women in men life. Men draw pictures in Magazines with women fully exposed. All cine songs are written with sex as the basic instinct as expressed by women. Men politicians treat women as second in line but needed for votes bank to attract men .Men force the women to do the age old profession. What women can do? They have to survive. Unashamedly women condescend to the wishes of men, After all these things MEN TALK ABOUT INDIAN CULTURE WITH SHAMELESS FACE!!!
The News papers and Magazines, TVs and Media, filmdom and its fraternity fashion shows did not contribute a dime to stop this non-sense and in the contrary, give lot of exposures to society. Every medium are flesh sellers who make lot of money out of women. Men booze and make merry with women but protect his women folks into a shelter. Will the producer of the film make his daughter dance in a film and shoot as he does with cine-stars? AND THESE MEN IN RAM SENA SHOUT ABOUT INDIAN CULTURE AND BEAT WOMEN!! Beating women is not our culture. Youth who created an act of terrorism in Mangalore should have moral-turpitude, or else they will not act in this manner. The article from where this view is expressed is good but will it stop publishing cinema malar, cine news and articles of distaste? Will this kind of paper write similar articles against Film and TV industries shallow aptitude? Will it make a movement against Politicle gimmicks on women? Will it ask men to change the focus and wear a new glass to respect women? When all these things happen we can speak about INDIAN CULTURE, TAMIL CULTURE ETC. Unfortunately, to conclude finally, it’s a pity that women are prepared to expose for pleasure and penny and no women forum raise their voice to put a stunning halt. First let men who created the vandalism at Mangalore be severely punished E(N)DE (GURUVA)YURAPPA.

'I was never an outstanding student'
January 15, 2009
How did you score 100 percent? When did you study?" was his mother's reaction when Shanatanu Gangal told her he had scored a perfect 100 percentile at CAT 2008.
Apart from hard work Shantanu thinks luck played a big role on the day (November 16, 2008) CAT 2008 was held. That can easily pass off as Shantanu's humility.
Says the 22 year old who stood 322nd in the IIT-Joint Entrance Exams five years ago, "I was never an outstanding student. I'd always rank anywhere from 15 to 20 in school."
"I am sure scores of other students have the ability to score 100 percentile. I think I was lucky to get it. Others were not," he says about the luck factor.

Two sides of a coin
Below are two views, two sides of a coin, which do you agree?
1. Truly Great India..
An Olympic Shooter wins Gold medal (Only a game) Govt gives him 3 Crore + Awards Another Shooter dies, fighting with terrorists (Saving our country and our lives) Govt pays his family 5 Lakhs -Truly Great India............!!!! *********************************************************
2.
Olympic winner happens once every 1000 years I guess. But soldiers dying happens every day. That does not mean I am justifying that olympic medal is greater than serving for country. Its just the frequency I am trying to pin point. I think it is fair enough :) ...my 2 cents

The end of Prbhakaran?
The end of Prabhakaran?
(Rediffmail article and my view)
January 02, 2009There have been understandable scenes of jubilation in Colombo and other Sinhalese majority areas of Sri Lanka [Images] over the occupation of Kilinochchi, which used to be the administrative capital of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, LTTE [Images], by the Sri Lankan army on January 2.
These scenes bring to one's mind similar scenes one witnessed after the US army moved without resistance into Baghdad vacated by Saddam Hussein's [Images] army in 2003 and shortly thereafter President George W Bush [Images] proclaimed 'Mission Accomplished.' Almost six years later, the violence still continues in Iraq. His proclamation of 'Mission Accomplished' has kept haunting him since then. Shortly after the US troops entered Baghdad, I had pointed out that the US army's entry into Baghdad marked the end of one phase of the war and the beginning of another.
So too in Afghanistan where the Taliban [Images], whose death was proclaimed with fanfare in December 2001, rose from its proclaimed grave and staged a comeback causing much bleeding and destruction. The fighting is still going on in Afghanistan.
To mention all this is not to underestimate the significane of the LTTE's loss of control over Kilinochchi after remaining in occupation of it for 12 years, but to stress the inadvisability of premature claims of victory in unconventional conflicts between a State actor and a non-State actor.
The re-occupation of Kilinochchi by the Sri Lankan army will naturally add to the pride, confidence and morale of the Sri Lankan army. This does not mean that it will necessarily undermine the motivation and morale of the LTTE. Its motivation and morale would have been undermined if it was an unexpected rout for the LTTE. From all indications, it was not.
It was a denouement for which it had prepared itself and the Tamil population of the area on which it depends for support. It has lost territory whose gain was symbolically important to the Sri Lankan army. But this does not mean the end of the LTTE's campaign of insurgency-cum-terrorism.
The end of the LTTE's campaign will come not when it loses an important piece of territory, but when it loses the support of the Tamil people in the areas still controlled by it and in the Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora.
In an unconventional warfare, there is no victory day when the war definitively ends with the adversary vanquished once and for all. Victory comes invisibly when the insurgent or terrorist organisation either realises that continued fighting or violence is no longer a viable option as it happened in Mizoram or when it totally loses the support of the people on whose behalf it claims to be fighting the State as it happened in the case of Khalistani terrorism in Punjab.
We must be proud of our political leaders. They did not indulge in scenes of jubilation when Laldenga, the leader of the Mizo National Front, sought peace talks with the Government of India in 1975. Nor did they indulge in triumphalism when they realised by the end of the 1990s that the Khalistan movement has withered away without their even realising it due to the aversion of the overwhelming majority of the Sikhs to the movement.
Turning points in unconventional warfare are brought about not through the force of arms, but through the force of wisdom. Arms do play an impiortant role if they are wielded with wisdom. One is yet to see such signs of wisdom in Colombo. The turning point in Sri Lanka will come the day the Tamils realise that V Prabhakaran has become a liability for their cause and get rid of him.
If there is to be real peace in Sri Lanka, the end of Prabhakaran has to be brought about by the Tamils themselves and not by the Sinhalese army. Has that day been brought nearer by the entry of the Sinhalese army into Kilinochchi? One has to keep one's fingers crossed.

Kilinochi fallby Rajaram on Jan 03, 2009 09:35 AM Permalink Hide repliesI find Kani mozhi weeping, which is nothing but, NAtional Traitorship. Those who cry for Hamas also, can be termed as war cry, but.....It shall be remembered, waging war with criminals are always difficult. The criminal may shoot ,do whatever he wants, but army or Police have to go thro rules. Also History shows it takes some time to quell Gorilla war,and one day Prabahakaran may fall like Che-guera. One thing must be understood: al-quida has almost zeroed its outward operations;A goverenance is on in Iraq, and people live better. Hit and run terrorism is the expression of defeat and a kind of Street dog attitude. Terrorism is another face, and in a vast nation these operations ar e kind of ripple and . Of course its pathetic from individuals point of view, but viewed in large spectrum, criminalism had never thrived, Germany is quite now after hitler. May be LTTe has no large troop now and may be planning for crocodile war;may be losses would occur; may be they shall be silence3d for ever. Good if we hate war, but it shall be hated by both war monger and war defender. What did Prabhakar achieve? He placed his family safe in India, educated his children well, while he made the territorials nomads; he spoiled the progress of the country, where he was borne and brought up for installing himself a Maglomanis; he perhaps made payments like Robinhood for protecting personal benefits. Its good if srilankans viz those who are citizens irrespective of creed, live happily hereafter,.

Dear Mr. Lakshmi Ratan Thank you and its thought provoking. As a coin has two sides, I think laterally too. Service to humanity is worshipping god. However I strongly feel that God had provided aplenty and as one was throwing the diamond stone into water, people mainly suffer due to lethargy. Everyone has to seek and live. Conservation of energy is good but consumption of energy is a right of life who is seeking and who had earned to consume. It looks ruthless to say so, but who are we, to say we are helping the society? HE IS DOING IT AND HE KNOWS BETTER. In Ramayana times there were ,say 100 people; then it went 10times more; then it went 100 times more; yet every need were available because ,every inch of article was earned by hard work; so when to day it expanded by 1000times,say, HE had conserved having known they are in needs; only thing certain sectors want things to happen without even twitching their fingers, so they shall be taught how to seek; the only community needed help is abandoned children and hapless, non-kinetic aged; even for them we have to move things nearer to them ,so that they could use their little effort to have and enjoy. I am trying to express my view which may or may not be correct, however I believe in teaching the man to fish rather than providing fishes.
