Why Indians have succeeded in countries ruled by whites but failed in their own?

Subject
: Interesting analysis: Why Indians have succeeded in countries ruled by whites but failed in their own?
In this last Swami-nomics of the millennium, I would like to sum up our performance in the 20th century in one sentence: Indians have succeeded in countries ruled by whites, but failed in their own.

This outcome would have astonished leaders of our independence movement. They declared, Indians were kept down by white rule and could flourish only under self-rule. This seemed self-evident. The harsh reality today is that Indians are succeeding brilliantly in countries ruled by whites, but failing in India. They are flourishing in the USA and Britain.

But those that stay in India are pulled down by an outrageous system that fails to reward merit or talent, fails to allow people and businesses to grow, and keeps real power with netas, babus, and assorted manipulators. Once Indians go to white-ruled countries, they soar and conquer summits once occupied only by whites.

Rono Dutta has become head of United Airlines, the biggest airline in the world. Had he stayed in India, he would have no chance in Indian Airlines. Even if the top job there was given to him by some godfather, a myriad netas, babus and trade unionists would have ensured that he could never run it like United Airlines.

Rana Talwar has become head of Standard Chartered Bank Plc, one of the biggest multinational banks in Britain, while still in his 40s. Had he been in India, he would perhaps be a local manager in the State Bank, taking orders from babus to give loans to politically favored clients.

Rajat Gupta is head of Mckinsey, the biggest management consultancy firm in the world. He now advises the biggest multinationals on how to run their business. Had he remained in India he would probably be taking orders from some sethji with no qualification save that of being born in a rich family.

Lakhsmi Mittal has become the biggest steel baron in the world, with steel plants in the US, Kazakhstan, Germany, Mexico, Trinidad and Indonesia. India's socialist policies reserved the domestic steel industry for the public sector. So Lakhsmi Mittal went to Indonesia to run his family's first steel plant t here. Once freed from the shackles of India, he conquered the world.

Subhash Chandra of Zee TV has become a global media king, one of the few to beat Rupert Murdoch. He could never have risen had he been limited to India, which decreed a TV monopoly for Doordarshan. But technology came to his aid: satellite TV made it possible for him to target India from Hong Kong. Once he escaped Indian rules and soil, he soared.

You may not have heard of 48-year old Gururaj Deshpande. His communications company, Sycamore, is currently valued by the US stock market at over $30 billion, making him perhaps one of the richest Indians in the world. Had he remained in India, he would probably be a babu in the Department of Telecommunications.

Arun Netravali has become president of Bell Labs, one of the biggest research and development centers in the world with 30,000 inventions and several Nobel Prizes to its credit. Had he been in India, he would probably be struggling in the middle cadre of Indian Telephone Industries. Silicon Valley alone contains over one lac Indian millionaires.

Sabeer Bhatia invented Hotmail and sold it to Microsoft for $400 million. Victor Menezes is number two in Citibank, Shailesh Mehta is CEO of Providian, a top US financial services company. Also at or near the top are Rakesh Gangwal of US Air, Jamshed Wadia of Arthur Andersen, and Aman Mehta of Hong Kong & amp; Shanghai Banking Corp.

In Washington DC, the Indian CEO High Tech Council has no less than 200 members, all high tech-chiefs. While Indians have soared, India has stagnated. At independence India was the most advanced of all colonies, with the best prospects.

Today with a GNP per head of $370, it occupies a lowly 177th position among 209 countries of the world. But poverty is by no means the only or main problem. India ranks near the bottom in the UNDP's Human Development Index, but high up in Transparency International's Corruption Index.

The neta-babu raj brought in by socialist policies is only one reason for India's failure. The more sordid reason is the rule-based society we inherited from the British Raj is today in tatters. Instead money, muscle and influence matter most.

At independence we were justly proud of our politicians. Today we regard them as scoundrels and criminals. They have created a jungle of laws in the holy name of socialism, and used these to line their pockets and create patronage networks. No influential crook suffers. They flourish unhindered because they have political links.

The sons of police officers believe they have a license to rape and kill (ask the Mattoo family). Talent cannot take you far amidst such rank misgovernance. We are reverting to our ancient feudal system where no rules applied to the powerful. The British Raj brought in abstract concepts of justice for all, equality before the law. These were maintained in the early years of independence. But fifty years later, citizens wail that India is a lawless land where no rules are obeyed.

I have heard of an IAS probationer at the Mussorie training academy pointing out that in India before the British came, making money and distributing favors to relatives was not considered a perversion of power, it was the very rationale of power.

A feudal official had a duty to enrich his family and caste. Then the British came and imposed a new ethical code on officials. But, he asked, why should we continue to choose British customs over desi ones now that we were independent?

The lack of transparent rules, properly enforced, is a major reason why talented Indians cannot rise in India. A second reason is the neta-babu raj, which remains intact despite supposed liberalization. But once talented Indians go to rule-based societies in the west, they take off. In those societies all people play by the same rules, all have freedom to innovate without being strangled by regulations.

This, then, is why Indians succeed in countries ruled by whites, and fail in their own. India was much better off under British rule. The indians are not fit to rule. It is the saddest story of the century.

Thinking from k Rajaram I R S on this issue.
I am happy atleast there are a few who squeeze the brain for analysis and contribute to des carthe’s statement. Your observation is on a few and certain situations. Tiruvalluar a learned saiud that NADENBA NADA VALATHANA. Apart from your reason, the economic civilized peaceful, straight forward trend IN MAJORITY had to make one behave, apart from the Implementations of the law. True, Can we see beyond the tip of the ice berg?( continuing from your analysis which I am making a little wider.
1. If regression were the cause or the caste were the cause or state divisions or language were the causes ,( as in India and similar factors do exist in outside) for progress then Indians in all cross section prospered as NRI ,where failure is ignorable; even less intelligent in comparison had done it; at the same time, women had a total change of customs and cosmetics. So Frictional, fiduciary and fractional factors is not the cause of down syndrome in India or up syndrome in outside. It’s something beyond.
2. Its independence while dependant. Laws are perfect and enforced tightly and so a fear of behaviour lurk behind, as dependent, yet it shall not make one really dependent as abiding gives lot of Independence.
3. Good systematic management with reward and punishments. Bountiful rewards for hard work and extreme punishments viz lifeterm here is 14 yrs on record while…. Everyone knows.
4. Freedom to relax and choice for perfect turnout with independent planning. It’s not when, who, how to work as per ignorant bosses, but whether work done as discussed and planned as per schedule.
5. Time management.
6. Expandable views and direction in positions.
7. Easy environments and peaceful living
8. Hard work and hefty pocket, heavy tax yet controlled economy
9. Corruption @ the highest level but executives and secretaries are answerable even for a layman.
10. Perfect justice within a short time. There is no delayed justice as well as no slavery judges.
11. You can walk with the walking stick swinging yet the tip shall not touch the nose of the neighbor.
12. Equality among people in spite of divided religions and caste and colors of differentiation
13. Business community except the medical field are really controlled with buyers safety; and under “medicine” doctors are made for the society with work in hospitals where hospitals shoulder the responsibility and they are curbed from the shooting practice( doctors are responsible and Insurance check their work).
14. Legal measure is costlier but lawyers have responsibility for justice. They cant afford to mislead the Judge and the Justice as well as they are assigned social justice on their shoulders.
15. Chartered accountants (CPAs) cannot sign any paper without legal verifications and for failure with future punishment Professionals life will become miserable even if they are Realtants, unlike India.
16. Absence of “its not ny job” CULT.
17. Society will treat, less caliber ,procrastinaters,easy-goers, and anti-society elements, with countenance, legal measures and like 4 letter word.
18. Plenty and multi choice to buyers and no one can take ones money by pilfering but have to answer every question
19. Public can’t be insulted if even one internally feels so because of stringent laws. Discrimination is highly punishable crime.
20. Where the mind is without fear honesty paves the way for success.
21. Thank you. There is no wonder in the success of Indians, Koreans, and Chinese whoever it may be. Chillness in spine will push our country to the peak, nothing else. I remember vividly on the date of emergency declaration in India By IG, all my staffs who used to stray in around 11 & 12, for 10 office, were present both ladies and gents @ 9.30 fretting and fuming. THIS IS INDIA AND INDIANS HERE ARE MADE FOR THAT.

Pancha pondence

Pancha pondence

Received on email:
1 There is nothing Good or Bad, it is all about Choices ........ So choose wisely.
2 Don't believe all that you hear and don't say all that you think.
3 Being Happy is not a matter of destiny. It is a matter of options.
4 Integrity begins with a person being willing to be honest with himself.
5 Do not let the noise of Other's opinion drown out your inner voice
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Loud thinking of K Rajaram I R S
Is that correct or even self-motivational words?
1. Vedic scripture followed by Tiruvalluar sourced it in Karma theory and (tamil) Immaikkum enai marumaikkum thatham karumame kattalaikkal. The choice made as good turns ultimately bad choice and so wisdom does not help.
2. This is fair yet this will deprive one of discussing with elders for right directions. Also suppression of communications matter much. If what children speak is ignored then the developments are curbed. So too for elders. Experiences maketh a man.
3. Sure if agreed what applied in – 1- do apply here also. Contentment is happiness. Option may spread the wing. (Tamil) Kana mayilada kandirunda vaankozhi thanumadu vaga pavithu….results may occur. If options of happiness is triggered from the desire then the ballooning limitations may blow the whole life.
4. Sure No counter. But Integrity though is same the action may differ from integrated situations. In Politics Integrity is giving up a village for the sake of population. In war integrity is diplomatic war. For a drug peddler it is protecting the honor of the group and die together. So the best definition given from Veda and from Tamil Tirukkural, “THAN NENJU ARIVADU POYYATRKKA, POITHAPIN THAN NENJE THANNAI CHUDUM”—Their the word Honest to oneself is correct subject to avoiding ULAGAM PAZHITHADU.
5. Yes it’s true partly and for some Nil. The truth is “ enni thuniga, …. thunidhapin ennuam enbadhu izhukku”. Epporul yar yar vaikketpinum apporul mei pporul kanbadu arivu”. Hence even for people beyond comprehension opinions are must. May ne one can drown or analyse and come over subject to his knowledge. However individual ego may bring disrepute and all opinions are for finding the truth only-- hence it is essential to gather the opinions. . There is a greater joke! All who don’t want o listen to others, go and fall at gods men so called feet without even a second thought and nod as if he is a greater guru!.
6. Anyway western thoughts are sweet coated pills with intent to hypnotize to encase. Eastern words have meaning in depth, yet not known to many.
7. SENSE WITHOUT INDEPENDENT EGO IS DEPENDENT LIKE, BUT CREATE A SENSE OF FULFILMENT, WHILE THE INDEPENDENT EGO WITHOUT SENSE IS NON-SENSE, SENSED FINALLY WHEN STRETCH TO THE WALL. “ ADAKKAM AMARURL UYKKUM, ADANGAMAI AARIRUK OOYTHUVIDUM.”
8. Thank you k Rajaram I R S

12th Feb 2012, Neeya Naana vijay TV

Yesterday 12th Feb 2012, Neeya Naana vijay TV program lead me to think where the Tamilnadu, India is progressing.
Women demand their own way or calling it as equality of home chores sharing including Baby raising; on the contrary , women prefer only to husband share but not male children cooking etc, funny. It also reflected the liking as well as bending to husband command to save the family life. Bundle of contradictions.
OK
Why Judges made some mumbo-jumbo words as if Kamal hassen is speaking!
Men are dunce as usual caught between reality of nature and pretending one to be. Man is bold creature who has to protect the family with courage and love with the balanced mind. Family is not as defined in USA but as in India. At the same time he has to have the boldness to declare whosoever he/she may be , that his wife's rights shall be protected as long as she is genuine. There is a difference between man and woman undoudedly. If she crosses the threshold of womanhood she will become a maglomania.
At the same time , she cannot be continuosly insulted and beyond tolerance ,when she,has to take the cudjel to establish the human rights violations. A woman shall draw this line with hardcore quality of patience to see whether any external elements are playing the cards or husband is ignorant but good.
I think valluar calls this as "thinmai" and "karpu"as one wife one husband relation if possible till death separate them. When an elderely speak as non-interference in Gay and lesbian relationship, which is not "mangalam" and not a relationship of health and for proper posterity, and yield to HIV etc, its a psychic problem and society shall take care.
Youth of today cause anxiety, men as coward and women as capricious, except some minority.
